We’ve made it to day twelve. We’re still going strong! I hope your hats are coming along beautifully. We are so excited to see what you create. Please remember to send a photograph of your finished hats, either via email or via Facebook.
Today’s featured designer is Janaya from Charmed by Ewe. This is her second year doing the challenge, and I love having her join with us! Her pattern was so popular last year, and I’m sure that’s going to happen again. Charmed by Ewe has designed the Textured Turban for the challenge this year. This is such a great idea for a distinctive preemie hat. You can connect with Charmed by Ewe on each of the following sites:
So, let’s learn a little bit more about Janaya. Welcome!
I’m from British Columbia, Canada, where I live with my husband and adorable 3 year old daughter. When I was around 11 years old, my mom taught me how to crochet. The only project that I remember working on was a triangular shawl that I’m pretty sure I never finished. That was the end of crocheting for me until about 2-1/2 years ago when I saw the cutest little crochet poncho on Pinterest. I was determined to re-learn the craft so I could make one for my daughter. After brushing up on the stitches and a lot of practicing, I started (and finished) the poncho; then it was on to the next project. A short while later, I started designing my own patterns. What I love most about designing is seeing all the lovely project photos from my fans.
You’ll usually find me crocheting on the couch while binging on Netflix TV series’. Orange is the New Black and Downtown Abbey are my all-time favorites. Right now, I’m working on a full-size granny rectangle afghan for a very dear friend. We will be exchanging them for gifts this holiday season. As for my hook, it has to be a Bates; my yarn always seems to slip off the hook when using a Boye. I don’t really have a favorite yarn, but I tend to use Red Heart With Love the most. Other yarns I enjoy working with are Brava and Shine from Knit Picks; they are so soft and come in a lot of different colors.
This is my second year participating in the Charity Challenge. My husband and I were very lucky to be blessed with a beautiful, healthy baby and I can’t begin to imagine what the parents of a NICU baby have to go through. It’s my hope that by designing and donating preemie hats, I can bring just a tiny bit of sunshine into their lives.
