Today, I’m delighted to share the talent of Danyel Pink with you. Danyel has given us the Perfect Preemie Hat for the challenge. I adore the texture on this hat! It’s absolutely gorgeous! You can connect with Danyel on her blog or on her Facebook page. She’s also offering a 25% off coupon with the code SUNSET when you shop in her Ravelry store.
Where are you from?
I’m originally from Illinois, but I’m currently living in WA state.
Tell us a little bit about your family.
I have 3 children (ages 8, 6 and 2) and 1 loving husband. 🙂
Who taught you to crochet?
My grandmother tried to teach me when I was about 10. I was able to make a small doll blanket at that time, but didn’t stick with it. My mother-in-law (re)taught me how to crochet around Christmas of 2007.
What is your favorite thing you’ve ever made or designed?
Although it was a huge project, I made a big star afghan for my mom about 6 years ago. It has been on her bed ever since, and it just makes me really happy to see how much she cherishes it.
What got you started writing patterns?
A friend came to visit me in Seattle one winter, and she asked me to make her a hat that would keep her head dry, but wouldn’t mess up her hair. I designed the “Angie Hat” for her, and that’s where it all began.
Do you have a favorite yarn/hook/other supply?
I’m very attached to my I/9 hook, and my yarn of choice is Knit Picks Chroma. I LOVE self-striping yarns.
Do you crochet to background noise? If so, what song/artist/tv show/movie is your favorite?
I love to watch TV/DVR/Netflix while I crochet. I prefer to watch shows like Doctor Who or The Originals, but I’ll watch pretty much anything.
Where do you like to crochet?
I usually crochet at my desk in my office, or in the recliner in the TV room. Those 2 chairs are the most comfy.
Why are you participating in the challenge?
I’m participating because I think it’s wonderful that so many people are crocheting for charities and hospitals. I hope these little hats can bring some joy to people… the people making them, and the people receiving them. And even the tiniest humans need adorable hats! 🙂
