Remember the post a short while ago about how to make your own colored pasta? Well, here’s one of the projects we’ve done with it. It’s quick, cheap, and the kiddo’s had a lot of fun.
I used this project to get them thinking ahead about what they wanted their monster to look like.
“How many eyes does your monster have?”
“What about his teeth? Are they sharp like a shark or flat like a horse?”
“How many ears does your monster have to hear you with?”
“Does your monster have legs? Or is he a blob?”
You get the idea….
As we progressed through each question I started putting glue on the pieces to let them add it to their piece of cardstock. I decided to paint the mouths using acrylics. Once we started building the shape of their monsters bodies – I put the glue on the paper and just let them start adding pasta pieces to it. (My youngest ended up thinking it was more fun to pick out the pasta he wanted and then tell mommy where to put it on his paper.)
All in all, a great and very cheap summer fun activity. These scary guys are now hanging in our art gallery.
